Job Description

Overall, the role of a Ghirardelli Sales Merchandiser is to develop and execute superior retail

merchandising for a defined geographic area and customer base. The Ghirardelli Merchandiser will

have the customer communication and selling capability needed to create “Ghirardelli presence” in

assigned retail stores.

 

Training & Ghirardelli Education:

· Responsibility to complete orientation and training sessions for company and product knowledge

· Build and maintain continual knowledge of Ghirardelli Chocolate Company and spread that

knowledge to customers & consumers in the normal course of a day’s activities

 

Merchandising Role:

· Work in assigned geography three days / 26 hours per week (preferably Monday, Tuesday and

Wednesday) calling on retail sales stores and creating Ghirardelli presence within assigned

stores

· Execute sales merchandising activities such as product rotation, freshness, ensure base sku

authorizations are on shelf as well as sell opportunities for new distribution with store

management support

· Sell incremental displays to support Ghirardelli’s drive for in store presence

· Ensure all merchandising activities are properly executed at store level to support Ghirardelli sales,

distribution, displays goals

· Manage resources efficiently (hours, mileage, costs) per the instruction of District Manager

· Adhere to the merchandising schedule and work plan assigned by District Manager

· Responsible for tracking and managing sales objectives that happen within assigned territory

· Bring the enthusiasm of the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company that so many of our consumers have

come to know us for in the premium chocolate segment to your retail stores each day

 

Miscellaneous:

· Weekly update to District Manager – complete daily call activity reports, merchandising hours

worked each day, over-time issues and why, pertinent issues pertaining to customers and/or

your job and sales objectives accomplished

· Participate in sales team meetings as needed

· Occasional flexibility to work during high volume seasonal “pushes”

· Submit all reports, hours, mileage on time each week to the District Manager

· Ensure your mandatory rest/meal breaks are taken in compliance with company guidelines

· Follow process to track mileage and any expenses incurred

Education and Work Experience:

· Retail background preferred

· Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
